Friday was a good garage sale day for me. One of the many things I collect is vintage Chinese jackets. It is really hard to find one in a larger size, but I scored Friday. The jacket is in perfect condition and a size Large. The best thing is that it was only $5.00. At the same sale I also got an embroidered jacket for $5.00. I smiled all the way to the car.
I also found 2 vintage aprons for $.50 each. At another garage sale I found 2 vintage baby quilts--one was patchwork and one was hand-embroidery. The best part is that they were only $.50 each too. Both had a few stains that I think will come out with a good Oxy soak. Neither one had any tears or holes that I have found.
I also scored 6 cookbooks for $.25 each. My grandson will get 4 cute books from his Granny and a play grill and food made by Playskool.
Saturday was a full day for my DH and I. We went to Monday Trades Day at Canton. HOT-HOT-HOT!!! The last day in July in east Texas is NOT a good time to go to a flea market. Thanks goodness we started early. I did find 2 vintage tablecloths in almost perfect condition for $5.00 each. I think they will become aprons. I also came home with 9 vintage patterns in larger sizes. Six of the patterns were still in factory folds.
I really wish I had pictures to show you. I did go to Best Buy and get a new digital camera that the salesman assured me was fool-proof. (LOL) He obviously didn't know who he was dealing with. I took pictures, but can't get them off the camera. Oh well, my DH will be home soon and he can do it for me. If the pictures turn out OK, I will attempt to post them. Don't expect too much.

I have never found a chinese jacket at a garage sale. Seems like you did really well this weekend despite the heat. It is a bummer when it's so hot - I just get grouchy and want to go home. Not conducive to thrifting at all. Good luck with the camera.
ReplyDeleteThe baby quilts are so sweet! and look at those vintage patterns!!

ReplyDeleteYou went to the right places on this day. Those all real finds.
ReplyDeleteIf only we had KNOWN that patterns were going to become vintage - - - I think we'd have held onto my mom's ENTIRE DRESSER DRAWER full!
ReplyDeleteInstead they went to who knows where when my parents deemed them "junk" and got rid of them.
Great finds! I love the baby quilts and vintage patterns. I was thrilled to no end when I found some of my mother's patterns from the 40's and 50's, so much fun! (I didn't find my own though from the 60's and 70's at the house WAH!).
ReplyDeleteHappy VTT,

ReplyDeleteThe baby quilts are both very pretty. I love how the patchwork is done in blue and red, probably before the baby was born.
ReplyDeleteI think my mother has also thrown away old patterns which could have been worth hundreds of dollars!
That is a great day of finds. Love your jackets, and those patters, delicious!
